one of my favorite subjects to shoot is family. everyone is comfortable around each other to just laugh and enjoy each other's company and pretty soon (as it should be) start to ignore me, the photographer. and that's usually what i tell my clients when we're getting ready to book a shoot: pick a hangout spot that you love and just have a typical family night or date night. i'm simply there to catch you in "your natural habitat", as it were. this way the photos are effortless and natural and it's a great way to look back and remember something that was special and meaningful to you. tom and makayla are an awesome father/daughter team that asked that i meet them at juanita beach in kirkland, washington. it was a fantastic location, the weather was beyond perfect and we were able to get some wonderful golden hour photos just before the sun slipped below the horizon.
